Canada pre-tour event

 Just a little reminder of the event next Tuesday evening at 7pm in the Burns Recital Hall. Although titles and advertised as a concert - its actually quite informal - and will include me going through the full itinerary in-between performances and showing you where we are going - taking through what we will be up to. If you are available, its a great way to kick off our tour!

Day 3 - Cathedrals, Crowds and Cheese Curds

We began the day with some brilliant news: all the missing luggage has arrived! Miss Taylor was up at the crack of dawn, hand-delivering suitcases to pupils’ rooms like a one-woman Christmas miracle. Who knew being reunited with a suitcase could bring such joy? It was genuinely heart-warming to see how much it meant — and we’re thrilled that everyone can now properly settle into the tour without feeling self-conscious or under-prepared. The pupils were so good about it all, but having everything now really does make a difference. Today centred around an informal performance at the stunning Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral , followed by a much-needed afternoon of sightseeing and experiencing the best of Montréal. After yesterday’s packed performance schedule and long travel day before that, this balance of music and exploration was exactly what everyone needed. Day 8: Miniature Mishaps and Majestic Marches

Big news from the breakfast room: the pancakes are back. Sheila, the legendary guardian of the breakfast buffet, had clearly sensed the national mood and fired up the pancake machine in turbo mode. One pupil managed to eat twelve in one sitting — we may now be responsible for the global pancake shortage. But, on the plus side, our pupils were very well fuelled for the day ahead. We had our usual third-floor corridor HQ briefing this morning — and I finally managed to capture a photo of the group just beforehand. There’s something quietly hilarious about gathering 40+ pupils in a carpeted corridor, but acoustically it’s one of the best briefing venues I’ve ever used. Every golden nugget of wisdom I impart echoes beautifully off the magnolia walls. Not glamorous, but effective. Our first destination today was a wonderfully quirky exhibition called Little Canada , showcasing miniature versions of major Canadian cities and landmarks. Day 1: A Grand Arrival (Mostly)

 After 18 months of planning, preparing, and counting down, we are finally here — fully checked into our hotel in Montreal and ready for action. It’s fair to say the journey wasn’t exactly smooth sailing, but more on that in a moment. The day started brilliantly. Everyone arrived at the Music School on time, full of smiles and excitement. Bags were checked, lunch was enjoyed, and spirits were high as we departed in good time for Heathrow. The drive was mercifully kind to us — just a bit of M25 traffic, but otherwise a smooth run. Things got interesting at Heathrow. British Airways had only two check-in desks open for two large school groups (us and another), plus all our instruments — which is always a logistical joy. We waited patiently but had to apply a bit of firm encouragement to get our group through before the gate closed.
